Clean up of Mahapalugaswewa lake

Description

This lake is a scenic creation that is part of the cascade water system (ellangawa), now a world heritage, has been neglected for years. This monumental step was taken by the V-Force volunteers on the 23rd of February 2019. The initiative was made a success by the support of Sri Lanka Navy, while Crown Royal Holding (Pvt) Ltd. Sponsored the clean-up project. Undergraduates of the Moratuwa, Wayamba, Ruhuna and Sri Jayewardenepura universities along with the members of the International Youth Foundation AIESEC, and Maharaja Institute of Management joined hands in the cleanup programme. The Mahawa Divisional Secretariat, the police, the officers of the Kurunegala Agrarian Services Department and area residents put their efforts together with much vigour for the successful completion of the project.
